UOL, Hilton sign deal for first NoMad Hotel in Apac at former Faber House site

UOL Group is joining forces with global hospitality leader Hilton to introduce the first NoMad Hotel in Asia Pacific. Hilton will oversee operations of the 173-room luxury hotel, which will be situated at the former Faber House on Orchard Road. The hotel is set to open in early 2027.

Faber House was an eight-storey commercial building located across the road from 313@somerset. In 2021, UOL received in-principle approvals to redevelop the site into a 19-storey hotel under URA’s Strategic Development Initiative (SDI) scheme. The hotel will also include commercial and retail space.

Designed by WOHA, the hotel will feature a biophilic design with a 15-storey waterfall and a “cliff-like verdant vertical landscape” set into the façade. There will also be an “urban verandah”: a public space on the third level that will be used for art and design programming. UOL says the urban verandah will also facilitate future connections to surrounding developments.

Other features of the hotel include a lobby on level five with an adjoining sky terrace and an infinity terrace pool overlooking Orchard Road, and a rooftop bar and restaurant.

“We are excited to introduce NoMad to Singapore as part of our placemaking vision for Orchard Road, alongside UOL’s upcoming private and exclusive preview of its luxury residential project, UpperHouse at Orchard Boulevard, and the award-winning Pan Pacific Orchard, forming a trio that will contribute to the transformation of Orchard Road,” says Liam Wee Sin, UOL’s chief executive.

NoMad is a luxury lifestyle hotel brand focusing on sophisticated design, world-class dining and immersive cultural programming. Founded by US hospitality company Sydell Group, the brand joined the Hilton portfolio following the group’s acquisition of a majority stake in Sydell Group last year. Currently, NoMad has one flagship location in London, with plans to expand globally.

“With demand for high-end, experience-driven stays surging across the region, the luxury gateway of Singapore offers the perfect backdrop to debut NoMad’s uniquely local luxury hospitality — and will be the first of many cities in Asia to welcome the brand,” says Alan Watts, president for Asia Pacific at Hilton.

Andrew Zobler, founder and CEO of Sydell Group, says that the brand’s debut in Singapore is just the beginning, with several deals “in advanced discussions in destinations in North America, Europe and beyond”.
