Singapore-based property developer Pontiac Land Group recently unveiled details of the second phase of its mixed-use project in Sydney. Situated in the heritage-listed former Department of Lands building in the Sydney central business district, The Lands by Capella will offer about 10,000 sq m of experiential luxury retail, F&B and event spaces.
The development is scheduled to open in 1Q2026. It follows the 2023 completion of Capella Singapore, a 192-room hotel located in the former Department of Education building next door. Together, Capella Singapore and The Lands by Capella make up The Sandstone Precinct.
In a press release, Pontiac Land says the Sandstone Precinct represents one of the largest privately funded tourism infrastructure projects in New South Wales (NSW). It is also Pontiac Land’s first mixed-use development in Australia.
“Working in close collaboration with the NSW Government, City of Sydney and First Nations advisors, restoration and conservation works are being meticulously carried out to honour the trust placed in Pontiac Land Group, and showcase our commitment to celebrating Australian heritage, art and culture,” says David Tsang, CEO of Pontiac Land Group.
